Haiku Monday-Ode to Costco

Coming to you every Monday (if I remember...and if I feel like it...and if I have a poem written) is...Haiku Monday!!!  Today, I would like to celebrate a place that many of us have traveled to...a place where toilet paper and hot dogs and chewing gum is sold in packages of 98.  Costco: this one is for you.


Big box store shopping
All the things in bulk sizes
Sample it all too

Soap and batteries
Lobster and generators
Costco has it all

You get all your goods
don’t forget your membership
card at the checkout

I don’t know how to start this. I guess it is mostly about my mom-pride. We all have it for something. Some of us have it for enduring childbirth without drugs, some of us for breastfeeding exclusively for an entire year, and some of us for going through all of our pregnancies without welcoming a single stretch mark. I fall in none of the above pride-categories as I took ALL. THE. DRUGS. during labor and then instead of spitting them out my vagina like you’re supposed to I ended up having three c-sections. My third child literally NEVER breastfed...not even in the hospital...not even to get the “liquid gold” stuff that comes out before the milk. Nope. None of it. It’s probably why she has to wear glasses now. And as far as stretch marks go...let’s just say you could play a rousing game of tic-tac-toe on my belly. Stillness

I had a couple of people ask me when the next blog will be posted...and truthfully, I'm not sure what story to tell next.  I have a million ideas and a billion distractions.  But I did write this poem a while ago and it rings true for me right now.  Maybe you, too? Untitled When you don’t know what to say; listen. When you don’t know what to do; be still. When you don’t know which way to go; stop. Breathe.  Breathe.  Breathe.   There will be a direction, a path, or a voice.  You will find it in the stillness and in the whisper of nature.  But it will not be rushed.   When the words are coming out in a fantastical rush; slow down. When you are running from instead of running to ; wait. When you have lost yourself; pause. Breathe. Breathe. Breathe.
